How to adjust the drawers of your bathroom vanity
Perfectly adjusting a drawer in your solid wood bathroom vanity
simple explanation + step-by-step guide
A drawer that no longer runs smoothly feels a bit like a door closing against the wind. It still works fine, but it's not as elegant as on the first day. This is completely normal with solid wood. Wood lives. It reacts to humidity, heat, and even the season.

Below, you'll read what happens, why it happens, and most importantly: how you can perfectly fix it yourself in a few minutes.
Why a drawer sometimes needs adjustment
• Solid wood expands in higher humidity.
• It shrinks when it gets drier.
• A small deviation can cause mini-friction.
• The front of a bathroom vanity can also sometimes 'work' a fraction.
Think of it like a wooden bridge that opens a little stiffer in summer than in winter.
We deliver every piece of furniture fully adjusted. But over time, a small nudge or turn might be needed. Fortunately, Movento makes this extremely easy.
What you can adjust on a Movento drawer
The Movento runner has three directions in which you can fine-tune:

height (up/down)

depth (front/back)

side (left/right)
Together, these three adjustments make it feel like you're precisely sliding the drawer into position with a small joystick. You'll see it immediately: the front line becomes straight again, the gaps even, and the movement whisper-quiet.
Step-by-step: adjusting a drawer in 5 minutes
The steps below are based on the Blum Movento standard assembly. The exact movement is always the same, regardless of the drawer's width or depth.
step 1 – pull out the drawer completely
Open the drawer all the way.
This gives you access to the mechanism underneath.
Tip: You don't need to unscrew anything. You only work with the adjustment knobs.
step 2 – determine the problem you see
Use this quick checklist:
A – the drawer rubs on one side
→ you adjust left/right.
B – the front hangs slightly crooked
→ you adjust the height.
C – the drawer doesn't close flush or sticks out slightly
→ you adjust the depth.
D – the drawer doesn't return smoothly
→ usually combine depth + left/right.
It helps to look at the drawer from three angles, just as a cabinetmaker would.
step 3 – adjust height (vertical adjustment)
Underneath the drawer, usually on the inside of the runner, there is a small adjustment screw.
• Clockwise: front up.
• Counter-clockwise: front down.
Do this a little bit on each side.
Think in quarter turns.
Small movements have a big effect.
Then check the alignment between both fronts.
step 4 – adjust left/right (lateral adjustment)
On the inside of the drawer, just below the front, you will often find a swivel arm or rotating wheel.
• Turn left → front moves left.
• Turn right → front moves right.
This corrects mini-deviations of 1–3 mm.
Just enough to make the gaps identical again.
step 5 – adjust depth (front/back adjustment)
This is the setting that determines how far the front is positioned forward or backward.
On the underside of the drawer, there is an orange lever or a plastic adjustment slide (differs per Movento type).
• Slide forward → drawer comes slightly forward.
• Slide backward → drawer is pulled deeper.
This is ideal when a drawer doesn't close completely flush or protrudes too far.
step 6 – test and fine-tune
Close the drawer a few times.
Use a calm pace.
Pay attention to:
• are the gaps nicely even?
• do you no longer feel any friction?
• does soft-close operate smoothly again?
Repeat small corrections as needed.
It's like focusing a camera: a millimeter makes all the difference.
Common situations and quick solutions
drawer jams top left
→ slightly adjust height left + left/right.
drawer does not close completely
→ adjust depth towards "back".
drawer runs crooked
→ set height on left and right exactly equal.
drawer taps against the front below it
→ lift the drawer slightly with the height adjustment knob.
Pros and cons of a 3D adjustable drawer

• ideal for solid wood that naturally 'works'
disadvantages
• requires a little technical skill
• overly large corrections can create new misalignments
• careful work required (but easy to learn)
When is it better to call us?
• for large deviations (more than 3–4 mm)
• when multiple drawers seem crooked simultaneously
• in case of damage to the front
• for moisture problems in the bathroom
