IKEA has convenient storage chests of drawers. By placing a solid oak top on them, you create a beautiful, stylish, and responsible piece of furniture that you can add to any interior. Wood gives the furniture a wonderfully warm appearance.
A practical play or work area
The IKEA SMÅSTAD / PLATSA chest of drawers offers endless combination possibilities. Adding a solid oak top gives your furniture a chicer look. Even more combinations are possible. Consider placing two cabinets a distance apart. Place a top on them, and you create a play or workspace for young and old. The IKEA SMÅSTAD cabinets, approximately 65 cm high, are ideal for a children's play area. The cabinets approximately 125 cm high can be used to create a bar table. Add a few beautiful Albert Kuip Bar Stools, and your workspace is complete. Regarding depth, you need to check carefully what type of product you have. This can be (including the door) 52cm or 57cm.
A suitable top for every combination
Various lengths are available, based on the standard sizes of the IKEA SMÅSTAD cabinet. If your desired size is not listed, we will custom-make it. You can place an 18 mm or 30 mm thick top on a play or work area, whatever suits your interior best. Or perhaps you already have an BESTA TV unit from IKEA with a beautiful solid oak top. Then you simply go for the same thickness and finish. We can deliver the top untreated, or you can choose a finish with transparent matte varnish. This optimally protects the top against stains, and the great thing is that this varnish preserves the natural look; you don't see that the top is varnished.
Ensuring your top stays firmly in place
In principle, you can simply place the top on your furniture. Its weight will keep it firmly in place. If you want to secure it, you can use screws. These screws are screwed from the inside of the cabinet into the bottom of the top. You won't see anything from the outside! Provided you don't use screws that are too long ;).
Match your SMÅSTAD with your other IKEA furniture
